Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2011 line was feminine and classic. Portions of the collection were heavily influenced by both the 50’s and 60’s (like the pieces above)--dresses Jacquelyn Onassis would surely have worn with a beehive up-do. There was a selection of tailored, often belted, suits and dresses, in pretty florals and tweeds. The evening gowns embraced heavy dramatic fabrics with a theatrical air. I enjoyed the playfulness of the fabrics; the green and white leaved dress below was picture perfect asymmetry (It was my favorite piece). The line included lots of detailing, as in many of the collections from the week, gathering, ruffles, flowers, and rouging. Overall I appreciated the femininity—the wearability (if you could afford them)—of his pieces for a wide range of sizes and ages. And, the tassel accessories, of course, were a favorite.
We’ll have to discuss his line for homes, including fabric, furniture, and accessories; that, I’ll save for later.
Oooooo...love love love. So girly and so fun! Thank you for giving us this peek Jordan!
