Beautiful Result. Loved a recent article in Traditional Home regarding a homeowner’s move from California to Manhattan, and the design process in making an East Side apartment, a new home. The client has a vast collection of differing pieces, from various phases in her life, “I had gone through a country stage, a Zen/modern stage, and then my traditional stage.” (This makes me feel normal!) The challenge: incorporating the old in a new space in fast pace Manhattan, thousands of miles away from laid back California. The designer, Benjamin Bradley (of Bradley Thiergartner) discussed the challenge as follows:
There are two kinds of clients. There are those who come with nothing and want us to create a new life for them. In that case, we become more teachers, to help bring to fruition design they were never able to visualize on their own. But with Lynn [subject homeowner], we were able to get a good print of who she is, and that’s when a project becomes more personal versus stylistic.
Love this distillation! And, love the warmth of the result (above and) below. Have a great weekend.
