Now, the detailing is fantastic and the imagination large, but Christian Dior’s 2011 Couture collection left me feeling gluttonous. You will have to hop over to Vogue to watch the runway video. I found the feel to be gregarious and a bit out of touch with the real world. But, even still, one can easily admire the drama infused into the following pieces. All I can see is 1950’s Barbie.

The January/February issue of Lonny Magazine is out and beautiful! I haven’t had a chance to read it, but perused it briefly to snag some lovely sneek-peaks for you. This flat is ridiculous. See you tomorrow.
Elle Décor’s feature regarding a number of decorators’ new year’s resolutions—“Interior Resolve”—was great. Granted, the resolutions had a decided “design” slant. I found them to be full of good tips—giving you new eyes to look at your spaces. The following were my some of my favorites:
“Keep things fresh! Design should live and breathe. I don't like walking into a project that I completed years ago and find it looks exactly the same. Rooms should be refreshed occasionally—replace throw pillows in a new splash of color, apply a lively paint finish, add lampshades in a modern shape, swap in seasonal printed slipcovers or simply rearrange the existing accessories.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to edit, edit, edit. It is hard to get rid of the knickknacks but your space feels so much better when you do! If you haven't reached for something in your closet, drawer, or that bin under your bed in six months, it is time to get rid of it!”

“Out with the junk and add some splashes of color! I want to streamline accessories and peel it back to the necessities. Then I can really start to plan the next phase, which will be continuing to make spaces unique, keeping art in a central place, and adding splashes of color. I'm loving peacock blue and old rose pinks.”

[The bejeweled branches rest near my jewelry; I love them. I’m on the hunt for a medium sized black or aqua urn for them.]

I’ve mentioned to some of you (and some of you have seen) my Christmas find on One Kings Lane. I thought today to be a fitting time to fill you in on the “TasteMaker Tag Sales" that occur weekly (oftentimes on Saturday at 11 AM) on One Kings. Interior Designers, many of which are very well known, have “Tag Sales” where, what appears to be their overflow inventory from their jobs, is on sale. The Sales are essentially virtual antique stores. There is generally one of each item. As you “pick-up” the item in the “store,” (or place the same in your virtual cart), the item is “ON HOLD.” If you decide to go for it, upon the completion of the transaction a “SOLD OUT” sign appears on the item. And, if you are on the fence, the item can stay “ON HOLD” in your cart for 15 minutes. After that time, the program yanks the find from your cart and others are able to buy it. You will need to brace yourself for the prices, they are generally unrealistic for most. But, sometimes, you’ll find something special that is either a good deal, or worth the splurge. The painting below is such a case. I couldn’t help myself. Its an undersized signed oil painting.
Otherwise, One Kings is great for finding random items on the daily sales which generally feature a close-out type of inventory—blankets, candles, sheets, books, pots, etc. First come first serve.
Be careful—one can get a little crazy on sights such as these. To easy to spend too much money!

So sorry for the absence. Had to share one of Sara Bareilles’ new songs, King of Anything. The Lord knew not to give me musical talents—I’d be way too vane. But, one can always find themselves feeling “expressive” with Sara Bareilles’ music. Check out the official video—it’s the “Latest Video.” [They are getting better at keeping you from embedding their content!] I think I have listened to her new album about 50 times now…
