Magazines
I was perusing the newest edition of House Beautiful and came across another clever ad from the Magazines: The Power of Print campaign. I love these ads. They bring us to back to the subject of the dominance of the internet and its role in displacing what we have always found useful, necessary, and desired. Its an interesting thought.
Their newest ad “Will the Internet kill magazines? Did instant coffee kill coffee?” is quite clever. I appreciated the following quip:
The explanation, while sometimes drowned out by the Internet drumbeat, is fairly obvious. Magazines do what the internet doesn’t. Neither obsessed with immediacy nor trapped by the daily news cycle, magazines promote deeper connections. They create relationships. They engage us in ways distinct from social media.
Now, I can’t speak the the “deeper connections” or “creation” of relationships, but House Beautiful looks like it is going to be quite enjoyable this month!
I could never do without a nice pile of magazines to cozy up with after a long week of work. So much fun to tip toe into each page and become part of a room...then clip the pictures that speak to me most and glue into my wish book! Magzines and a little Zooey Deschanel... now that's something to look forward to :)
