Birdsnest Fern
There aren't too many things that I compulsively purchase. But, of those I do, the chief offenders are plants. Indoor or outdoor, I'm in love. I find that plants make interiors just a hint more home-y. (Or, at least this is my justification for being a glutton!)
A birdsnest fern is one of my favorites. I bought myself one this weekend. It gets its name from its emerging fronds that resemble birds' eggs. It likes moist soil and indirect light. Unlike a bromeliad, you don't water in the cup of the plant where new fronds are appearing--they can be damaged or rot may occur.
I've placed my new addition on my printer table, which screams the 60's, with geometric legs and strong angular lines. The fern provides just the right amount of texture. Hope your weekend has been wonderful.
